Raising Funds to Help Shelter Animals
Cady Arruda is a 10 year old girl from Westport. She says after seeing a Purina commercial showing caged animals in shelters, "I got really upset. I wanted to do something to help the animals." She sculpted animals out of clay, attached pins, and mounted them on cards. On the backs of the cards, she explained who she is and why she wants to help animals. She sold the pins and gave the proceeds to local animal shelters to help with food, veterinary care and other sheltering costs. With her growing pin business, &Quot;Barnyard Benefits", Cady has donated hundreds of dollars to local horse rescue organizations and shelters that house dogs and cats. Cady says, "People mistreat animals and that’s not fair to them. Any way I could help them -- it’s the right thing to do."
